THE LETTER I'LL NEVER SEND

Rain taps softly on the windowpane.

A lullaby laced with longing and pain.

The world outside is blurred and gray.

While inside, my heart has things to say.

The candle flickers, breath held tight.

A pen in hand beneath dim light.

Your name still flows with ease and grace,

Through time it flows to a different place.

I write of things I never said,

Of laughter shared, of tears we shed.

Of hopes once bright, now soft and still,

Of love that haunts against my will.

The ink runs smooth, like memories do,

Each line a memory that leads to you.

Not to accuse, not to defend,

Just truths I write, not meant to send.

The rain keeps time, a steady beat,

As silence gathers ‘round my seat.

And when at last the letter ends,

It folds into the wind, my friend.

A drawer will hold what heart has penned,

This quiet note I’ll never send.

For some goodbyes, though deeply true,

Are whispered not to them…but to you.
